Lena Börjesson | 1879-1976

 

Helena (Lena) Börjeson, born October 13,1879 in Copenhagen, Denmark, died April 14,1976 in Stockholm, was a Swedish sculptor. Lena Börjeson was the daughter of the sculptor John Börjeson and the sister of the painter Gunnar Börjeson and the sculptor Börje Börjeson. She was trained by her father in the art of sculpture and accompanied him on art trips to Italy in 1905–06. In 1916, she moved to Paris and opened the art gallery Maison Watteau and became director of the art school L'Académie Scandinave between 1918 or 1919 and 1935.

 

After returning to Sweden, she founded Lena Börjeson's sculpture school in Stockholm in 1940. The business was conducted in her apartment at Fjällgatan 34. Börjeson is represented at, among others, the National Museum in Stockholm.
