Carl Gustaf ( C-G )was born in Stockholm and trained as a civil engineer at KTH in 1954. After 35 years in the construction industry and as a business consultant, in 1988 he began seven years of studies for the sculptor and mentor Axel (Wallis) Wallenberg (1898-1996). Axel had been a student of Carl Milles and, after his death in 1955, superintendent at Millesgården for almost 25 years. After six years, C-G got a written certificate as a good sculptor. The debut was in the fall of 1995 with 20 bronze sculptures in Galerie S:t Nikolaus in Gamla Stan in Stockholm. In 1996 he acquired his first studio in connection with my wife Kerstin's silversmith and the first patinated plaster enlargement is carried out, "Medvind", 180 cm high. In the same year.

 

He then started an exhibition of 20 bronzes at larger companies and hotels in the Stockholm area. It then continues with 30 bronzes as the European Tour in Norway, France, Italy and Germany. In total, there were 44 valued exhibitions in five countries, which ended with SKF's centenary in 2007 and Volvo AB's Exhibition Hall in Gothenburg in 2008. After a visit on the island of Capri 1997 where he made a plaster head of Axel Munthe, he was commissioned by the San Michele Foundation to be set up the head in bronze at the Villa on Capri. The inauguration took take place on 31 October 1999 with a concert in the chapel and an unveiling ceremony in the beautiful garden outside the sculpture gallery.

 

Later on he was commissioned to make a portrait of former opera singer and Dalhalla's founder Margareta Dellefors, which resulted in a powerful unveiling ceremony in June 2006 on the site of the former lime quarry. On July 26th, the same year, the bust was unveiled by the Olympic cycling champion in 1976, Bernt Johansson, in the entrance to Mariestad's town hall. Another portrait was unveiled in Mariestad the following year, namely of Emanuella Carlbeck, who was a pioneer in the 19th century in caring for developmentally disabled children. In the spring of 2012, He made a plaster head of Mariestad's great portrait painter Bror Kronstrand. It premiered in its city library on March 14 and is kept until further notice in its Kronstrandsrum. He executed a total of about 2,200 portraits of famous people around the world, including an oil painting of a president's wife that hangs in the White House. Parallel to the European Tour, in 2002 he established a permanent exhibition of 30 bronzes at Vasakronan's Tegen (Solna) and Primus (L:a Essingen) facilities. The municipality of Danderyd became interested and his first monumental sculpture "Livskraft" could, be unveiled in its most central roundabout at Mörby Centrum in September 2006. Two years later, the granite fountain "Källan" was unveiled in the beautiful church garden in Eriksfälts parish in Malmö. In 2009, another monumental sculpture, "Medvind" was unveiled in the new roundabout in front of the Grand Hotell in Saltsjöbaden.

 

During teh following years, he worked to complete the project with the Sculpture Path in the Central Park in Täby. It started with a showing of his exhibition in Solna and an idea about a "meditation path with sculptures". Leading officials and politicians lit up the idea and eight sculptures were ordered on the condition that he found financiers for the sculptures. In total, there were 9 sculptures and since 2013 they can be all be seen in the Central Park in Täby.

 

Carl Axel Ekberg is still an active sculptor and has his studio in the stables at Näsby Castle which is one of the oldest buildings in Täby.
