Gudmar Olovson | 1936 - 2017
 

Gudmar Olovson was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm 1955–59 as a student of Bror Hjorth and Stig Blomberg. He lived and worked in Paris from 1959, where he collaborated with among others Paul Cornet (1892–1977) and Jean Carton (1912–88). Gudmar Olovson sculpted in the French classical tradition, including portraits of many renowned models. Five of his monumental free works can be found in Höllviken's sculpture park on Falsterbonäset in Skåne, Sweden as well as in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris, at Ersta Hospital in Stockholm and numerous other public places and private homes and collections. He is represented at the National Museum in 

Stockholm. Gudmar Olovson has his own sculpture park, the Château de Chevernys "Jardin de l’Amour" in the Loire Valley, France. 

 

Gudmar Olovson was awarded many distinctions for his work and had over 30 one-man exhibitions in France, Sweden, USA, Luxemburg. Possibly his most emblematic work, the monumental Les Deux Arbres (The Two Trees, 1964-66, 236 cm), adorns the Bois de Boulogne in Paris, Falsterbo Open Museum, Château de Cheverny, Château Petrus, Ferring HQ Copenhagen and private collections.
